Whether your likes are walking, cylcling, golf, swimming, snorkelling or more extreme sports this region has something for everyone. On booking Casa de Reyes amongst other activities you will be supplied with information on where to find the best golf courses, where to find local snorkelling schools and even where and how to book quad biking in the Pyrenees. Below is a bit more detail of what there is on offer.

Walking

The trails around the area can be great to explore on foot, but the real joy for walkers is in the large number of well-signposted and carefully marked routes and footpaths around the coast and in the hills. While walking you can take in some of the most fantastic rocky scenery which gives the Costa Brava its name.

Over the past few years, the sign posts for walkers have been expanded considerably and clearly set out the destination and expected time to arrival. This makes walking an all-year-round pursuit of interest and safety, and is increasingly a reason to come to Begur out of the summer season. Maps can be bought from the local tourist office and we can give you web sites providing information on walks in the area.

Golf

The Costa Brava has just recently won an award for The Best Emerging Golf Destination Worldwide by IAGTO. This is because the Costa Brava now hosts some of the finest golf courses in Europe.

On booking we will provide you with the location and telephone numbers of local golf courses. This will allow you to prebook, which can be necessary in the high season. However, golfing is also particularly popular in spring and autumn due to more comfortable temperatures.

Cycling

Cycling is one of the true pleasures of the area: fantastic scenery and many roads without heavy traffic even at the high season – and if you want to reduce the traffic even further then use the dirt roads that criss-cross the whole area. They’re well preserved, not challenging and will get you to places that many never visit. There are a small number of hire centres in the area.

If mountain biking is your thing then its worth a trip up into the Pyrenees where there are a number of bike hire centres who can provide you with information on the area.

Quad Biking

A fantastic way to see the beautiful surrounding area and great fun! Gualta Quads provide a number of excusions from 45 minutes to 4 hours, mainly off road. Only 20 minutes drive from Casa de Reyes. Check out their web site for more information at www.gualtaquads.com.

Snorkelling

There are a large number of snorkelling and diving schools in the area catering for the beginner to the more experienced taking advantage of the clear blue waters to the abundance of sea life.

Water Activities

The beach at Sa Riera has a small diving hut that provides lessons in snorkelling and snorkelling equipment. Also you can hire canoes and small boats. On the beach of Pals you can book banana boats and water skiing. (These are only available in high season).

Skiing

The Pyrenees have some excellent skiing facilities. Some as close as an hour and half by car. We have experienced the skiing in La Molina and Masella, which is about a 2 hour drive, but definitely well worth it. We can highly recommend a 2 centre holiday in the winter of a few days on the slopes followed by a few days on the coast recovering!
